Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information

Last updated: July 12, 2025

Pickl Finance, Inc. (a corporation in formation; state of incorporation pending) operates the website and mobile app at pickl.finance (the "Service"). We're headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, (registered address to be added) and distributed across the U.S. You can reach us at contact@pickl.finance.

1. Information We Collect
  • Account & Profile Data. Your full name, email address, hashed password, and date of birth (you must be 13 or older) when you sign up.
  • Financial Data. With your explicit permission, we connect to your financial accounts using Plaid. We do not store your banking credentials. Instead, we use encrypted access tokens (secured with AES-256 encryption) to retrieve your transaction history, balances, and account metadata. Only you can access this data, including any linked accounts.
  • Payment & Pre-Order Data. When you pre-order through Stripe on our website, we collect your email (for receipts/updates) and payment method details. We never store full card numbers—only the tokens Stripe provides.
  • Subscription Data. In future releases, when you subscribe via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, we'll receive purchase receipts, subscription status, and device identifiers to manage your subscription access.
  • Push Notification Tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store a device-specific token (via APNS or FCM) so we can deliver alerts—for example, spending alerts or goal reminders.
  • Usage & Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to track page views, feature usage, session duration, device/browser information, and anonymized IP-based geolocation for retention insights.
  • App Store Data. We collect minimal device identifiers (e.g. App Store receipt tokens) to verify installs and subscriptions.
  • Simulated Market & Leaderboard Activity. We track engagement with the virtual stock market (e.g. trades, performance, rankings) and spending score leaderboards for analytics and feature functionality. If you participate in a public leaderboard, your username (not your real name) will be shown.
  • What We Don't Collect. We do not collect or store your physical address, Social Security number, or other government-issued identification. We only store your full name and date of birth as part of your account profile.
2. How We Use Your Information
  • Provide & Improve the Service. To link accounts, set budgets, track transactions, process pre-orders, manage subscription access, and send push notifications you've opted into.
  • Communications. To send transactional emails (welcome messages, order confirmations, subscription notices, password resets) and—if you opt in— marketing messages.
  • Push Notifications. We only send notifications for key events you've agreed to (e.g. low-balance alerts, budget limits, goal milestones). You can disable these in your device settings or within the app.
  • Analytics & Retention. To understand which features drive engagement and retention, diagnose issues, and plan product improvements.
  • Compliance & Safety. To comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, and protect against fraud.
3. Cookies & Tracking

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details on the types of cookies we set and how you can manage them.

4. Third-Party Sharing

We share your data only as necessary with:

  • Plaid: to securely retrieve your linked bank account transactions, balances, and account metadata using encrypted access tokens.
  • Stripe: to process pre-order payments and store payment tokens.
  • Apple & Google Play: to verify and manage in-app subscription purchases.
  • APNS / FCM: to send push notifications to your device tokens.
  • Google Analytics: to aggregate usage data for reporting.
  • Meta Pixel: to track website conversions and optimize our marketing campaigns.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Your Choices & Rights
  • Access & Correction. Email us at contact@pickl.finance to request a copy of or update your data.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing. Click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or email us.
  • Push Notification Controls. You can disable or re-enable push notifications in your device's settings or in-app under Settings → Notifications.
  • Leaderboard Visibility. You can choose whether or not to appear in public leaderboards by adjusting your privacy settings in the app. Family group rankings are visible to other members of your family group by default.
  • Cookie Controls. Use browser settings to block or delete cookies. See our Cookie Policy for guidance.
6. Children's Privacy

Our Service is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it—contact us to request removal.

7. International Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the U.S. by our service providers. By using our Service, you consent to this transfer.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we'll notify you via email or in-app notice.
